Do I need to be registered to vote?
Yes, all Maryland residents must be registered in order to vote. Visit the Maryland Board of Elections website to register to vote.

Can I Vote by mail?
Yes, any registered voter may vote by mail. You don’t need a reason, simply visit the official Maryland Board of Elections to request a mail-in ballot.
I’m a registered Republican, Can I Vote for Geonta in the Primary?
No, Maryland does not currently allow “open primaries”. You must be a registered Democrat to vote for Geonta during the Primary.
If you wish to change your Political Affiliation you must do so three weeks prior to election day. Visit the Maryland Board of Elections website for more information regarding political affiliation.
How will Geonta’s name appear on the ballot?
Geonta’s name will appear on the ballot as,
“Geonta L. Simmons”
Second name on the ballot under “Councilmanic District 1”
Geonta is also running for the Democratic Central Committee, Will his name be displayed twice on the ballot?
Yes, If you live in District 1, you’ll see Geonta’s name on the ballot under County Council District 1.
And if you live in District 12B, you’ll also see Geonta’s name under “Legislative District 12” for the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee.
Look for “Geonta L. Simmons” in both places on your ballot.
What is the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee?
The Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee (AACDCC) is the local Democratic Party in Anne Arundel County.
The committee serves several purposes:
To maintain and grow the Democratic Party in our county by engaging the community and reaching out to voters.
To elect Democrats at all levels of government.
To represent the principals that guide the Democratic Party here at home, in Anne Arundel County.
To nominate a replacement when an elected Democrat in the state legislature vacates office. In such an event, the Committee will accept applications from the public and will interview the candidates. The Committee will vote on which candidate will be forwarded to the Governor for appointment to fill the remainder of the term of office.
