Issues That Matter To YOU
Public Safety
Regardless of political affiliation or background, everyone deserves to feel safe. Public safety is my top priority, and as your next councilman, I will ensure our communities' safety needs are addressed. I am committed to working closely with the Anne Arundel County Police, providing support and fostering collaboration to keep our neighborhoods secure.
I believe we can achieve public safety while upholding police accountability. The first step is ensuring our police officers have the tools they need to keep our communities safe is by shutting up and listening! Too often elected officials try to solve problems in areas they’re not experts in. I think a different approach is necessary. I will not only listen to our police officers but I will act on their request and concerns.
No one should fear those tasked with protecting them, but police must also have the tools and space to do their jobs effectively. Bridging the gap between our communities and law enforcement is essential because we all share the same goal.
Education
Teachers are the backbone of Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Without their dedication, our schools and students cannot thrive. As your next councilman, I will relentlessly advocate for our teachers, ensuring they have the tools, support, and fair salaries they need to succeed. Great teachers inspire greatness in the classroom, and investing in them is investing in our future.
Our students deserve the same unwavering commitment. I will champion innovative, forward-thinking approaches to education, recognizing that in the 21st century, one size does not fit all. We must expand opportunities in technology and trade education and ensure that every student is prepared for life beyond high school. This includes requiring multiple financial literacy courses to better equip students for the real world.
Maryland has the chance to set the standard for bold, transformative education. Let’s lead the way and show what’s possible when we prioritize both our teachers and students.
Economic Development
District 1 is home to three of Maryland’s most valuable business hubs: Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), Arundel Mills Mall & Casino, and parts of the Fort Meade community. On paper, this gives us a strong economic footprint. But for too many of our low-income and working-class neighborhoods, these benefits have yet to be felt.
As your next councilman, I’m pledging to be proactive and intentional with zoning decisions, because zoning shapes the very foundation of our communities from housing, jobs and transportation.
It’s time for Anne Arundel County to invest in smart, equitable growth including mixed-use zoning that allows for affordable housing, walkable neighborhoods, and community-centered development.
That means:
Expanding sidewalk and bike lane access
Planting more trees and green space
Creating pedestrian-only zones
Building trails and safe crossings
Adding designated bus lanes (where needed)
Easing traffic in dense residential areas
These improvements make our communities more attractive; not just to residents, but also to investors and small business developers looking for opportunity.
We’ve seen the county implement these changes in wealthier neighborhoods. Now, it’s time to bring that same vision and investment to District 1.
Together, we can create a future where every part of our district, not just the economic hotspots, has a chance to grow, thrive, and be seen.
Affordable Housing
It is unacceptable that so many people in Anne Arundel County can’t afford a place to call home, especially our state & county employees!
As your next County Councilman, I will fight tirelessly to ensure the county uses every tool at its disposal to ease the crushing burden of buying or renting a home. For my generation, this isn’t just policy, it’s personal. We’ve watched friends and family get priced out of the communities they love. And if we don’t act, more residents will be forced to leave Anne Arundel in search of affordability elsewhere.
We must make housing affordability a top priority, not just to keep our community together, but to help it thrive.
But let’s be honest: the County can’t solve this alone. There are real barriers to affordable housing, and many of them require action at the state level. That’s why I’m committed to working closely with our partners in the General Assembly to push for smart, effective solutions that protect working families, young people, and seniors alike.
Together, a united Anne Arundel County delegation can tackle this crisis head-on.
Because in 2025, young people and families of all backgrounds are choosing quality of life over sky-high housing costs. If we want to keep them here, we must act boldly and act now.
Supporting Our First Responders
Our first responders are true heroes, always the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Their courage, commitment, and selflessness are the backbone of public safety in Anne Arundel County. But too often, the County hasn’t been there for them the way they’ve been there for us.
As your next County Councilman, I’m committed to changing that.
I will fight to ensure our fire and police departments are fully staffed, properly funded, and fairly compensated with the pay, pensions, and support they’ve earned. Public safety shouldn’t be an afterthought or a bargaining chip. I believe fire and police priorities should be at the top of the budget; not competing for scraps.
Beyond funding, we must invest in the next generation of first responders by expanding career pipelines, apprenticeships, and school-to-service programs that connect young people to rewarding opportunities in the fire and police departments.
But our support shouldn’t stop at the station door.
We need to ensure that the men and women who protect us can also afford to live in the communities they serve. That means expanding affordable housing options for first responders and exploring sustainable tax relief that honors their service and sacrifice.
A safer, stronger community starts with having our responders’ backs on duty and off.
